James Packer has quit his role as casino company Crown’s chairman, but will remain on the board of the company. Mr Packer is Crown’s majority shareholder, and the company said it intends to appoint him as a senior executive director. Wages grow at slowest rate in at least 17 years

The Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday private sector wages, excluding bonuses, grew just 0.5 per cent in the June quarter.  Private sector wages grew at their slowest rate for at least 17 years in the 12 months to the end of June, confirming a trend that many economists say has stopped the unemployment rate surging but held back consumer spending. Government urges Australians to exercise

The government is urging Australians to get off the couch and exercise, with alarming new figures revealing half of us are overweight, battling diabetes or suffering another chronic disease. Statistics from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare show 1-in-5 Aussies have at least two chronic diseases brought on by inactive lifestyles or smoking.
