The draft Kurilpa Master Plan sets the framework to guide the transformation of Brisbane’s largest inner-city renewal precinct in two decades.
The draft master plan outlines the vision for Kurilpa and identifies five strategies and supporting sub-strategies to guide Kurilpa into the future.
The vision and strategies are delivered through a range of projects, including seven priority projects to commence during the next five to ten years. These projects will revitalise Kurilpa’s riverfront and better connect Kurilpa to the city centre and Queensland Cultural Precinct.
The draft master plan aims to deliver significant community benefits while optimising Kurilpa’s commercial potential and providing developer certainty. Master planning of the precinct was identified as a key initiative in the South Brisbane Riverside Neighbourhood Plan (2011) and the City Centre Master Plan (2014), both of which included significant community and industry consultation. The draft master plan also seeks to align with key aspects of Council’s River’s Edge Strategy (2013) to improve recreational and commercial access to the riverfront.
Implementation of the master plan is a shared responsibility between government, private sector and the community.
